When they arrived back to the court, Melora let out a long sigh. They were finally home. Not her home of choice, but a cold prison of one in which she would spend her days as if she were one of the very criminal's she'd brought in.
She had taken Anshel's words much better than he had expected her to, deciding that complying with him would be her best bet at the time. She honestly hadn't seen it the way he had, and for that she had apologized, hard to do for her, but she meant it. Though in her mind she went over everything that happened, finding a way to defend each of her actions. So really she wasn't apologizing for what she'd done so much as she was apologizing for upsetting him.
Melora had taken risks and ended up dead for it, but each risk had taken them down the path to discovery rather than pure fuckery, which was more than being reserved ever got her. Taking risks allowed her to meet and accompany Azura, destroy a device that could and likely would lead to an all out war, nearly fuck a king, and lead her to a piece of evidence in finding her father, as well as revealing that he had the ability of corpse manipulation.
As far as she was concerned, those were all accomplishments, dammit. Some of which she'd managed half dead.
Still, for the next weeks she'd reserved herself to life at the court for his sake, willing to show him that she truly was listening to what he'd been telling her. The times they'd passed in the hall were awkward as the shuffled around each other, especially for Melora, who was all too aware that he'd had many people checking up on her and updating him on her health and well being. Why she was so eager to seek his approval she didn't understand, so she chalked it up to "daddy issues" and went on with her time.
Most of it was spent in the garden, reading and thinking, much the same way her mother had done at her age. In her idle time she'd think about Azura and their adventures, longing to be outside of the Banglaire gates and on to her next big assignment, possibly with a chance to see Azura. From what she'd heard he was very much fulfilling his duty as the leader of his clan, a thought which would occasionally make her smile. Vetis of course grew annoyed with all of this sitting and doing nothing, but over time Melora had learned to stifle her complaining so that she could think clearly. She studied at almost all times, save for when she was set to be checked on by the medical staff, who were more than happy to assist her. Finally the doctors were able to confirm that she wasn't going to drop dead. Finally it was time.
When she walked into the familiar court room she shuffled papers, not entirely confident that she'd be allowed to leave. But the papers in hand proved that she was both medically and mentally sound, which were the terms of her being able to leave and be taken off of suspension. The court would review her case and possibly grant her the chance to chase down her father, who may not even be in the same place anymore.
The court members all swiftly agreed that, yes, Melora should be allowed to leave. She noted that Anshel was missing. How could she have forgotten? He was on his way to meet with Azura and the Moroi, the lucky bastard. She hadn't heard from Azura yet, and time would tell whether or not he'd decided to keep her bell safe, she sincerely hoped she'd get it back.
Finally she was on her way again. The terms of her leave were simple enough: she was to be followed from a good distance by a few Banglaire, specifically for protection, however they were not to interfere unless it were absolutely necessary. She was to directly contact Anshel with any information she might find out, as per his request. Melora agreed, happy to be gone from this place as soon as possible. Within the hour she was on the next plane, which would be making connections in Europe, Mexico, and then eventually take her to her destination.
